True Grain offers a European-inspired bakery experience, and nothing demonstrates this better than our pastry counter. For the true connoisseur, we invite you to visit us when the bakery opens at 8am, when you can indulge in a mountainous selection of delights, including authentic French Croissants, pain au chocolat made with sticks of dark Callebaut chocolate, Butterflies (aka palmier) with a perfect hint of cinnamon, and our signature Copenhagen Swirl, with its buttery vortex of hazelnuts, almonds and marzipan.

Craving something savoury? Imagine you’ve traveled to Munich Oktoberfest when you bite into one of our German Pretzels. Or choose a cheesy pretzel stick, a German pretzel dough covered in organic cheddar, sprinkled with paprika and baked until the cheese is bubbling on its golden pretzel base. Feel like something a little peppery? Try the cheddar twist, made with puff pastry, organic cheese, paprika and black pepper, and dotted with poppy seeds & sesame seeds.

Yes, we bake cinnamon buns. Great, glorious, sticky cinnamon buns made with organic cinnamon and topped with organic cream cheese icing. If you’re a chocolate fan, you’ll want to ask about our Salted Pecan Chocolate Spelt Brownies, which are rich and fudgy and unforgettable. We also love to create special items using local fruit, so check in during apple season for our authentic Vienna Strudel, and in the summer for our fruit swirls, made with a sweet yeast dough and sprinkled with a streusel topping.

Along with using exclusively BC-grown organic flour, we seek out the highest quality organic ingredients wherever possible, including organic butter, organic chocolate chips, organic cane sugar and organic seeds (sesame, pumpkin, sunflower, flax). French Croissant

An authentic French Croissant is a time honoured tradition. We use organic butter and BC-grown organic flour to create layers of flaky pastry that will whisk your senses back to Europe.

Pain au chocolat

Bite down through flaky, organic butter pastry into decadent, dark sticks of Callebaut chocolate. Dissolve into comfort food bliss.

Almond Croissant

The flaky delight of a traditional French Croissant, with the added decadence of a rich marzipan filling and a topping of perfectly toasted sliced almonds.

Copenhagen Swirl

A True Grain signature pastry featuring ground almonds, hazelnuts and marzipan, with a streusel topping, all swirling into vortex of buttery goodness.

Butterfly

Also known in France as Palmier (Palm Heart), this puff pastry delicacy features a hint of cinnamon and organic cane sugar, baked to a perfectly caramelized crunch.

Cheddar Twist

Layers of organic butter puff pastry twined with organic cheddar cheese, sesame and poppy seeds, and a healthy dash of paprika and black pepper to provide a tiny bit of heat.

German Pretzel

At True Grain, every day is Pretzel Day. Whether you enjoy them with butter, mustard or just plain, there’s nothing quite like an authentic German Pretzel, complete with a sprinkling of course sea salt for that perfect savory flavour.

Cheesy Pretzel stick

We pile organic cheddar onto a bed of German pretzel dough, add a sprinkle of paprika and bake to perfection. The ultimate companion to a nice craft beer.

Cinnamon Bun

Soft, inviting comfort food pillows laced with organic cinnamon and smothered in organic cream cheese icing.

German Croissant

Our German Croissants combine the buttery, flaky layers of a French Croissant with the savoury gusto of a German Pretzel.

Eccles Cakes

Named after the English town of Eccles, this small round cake is made with flaky pastry that is filled with organic currants and topped with organic cane sugar.
